Pic. 38: The Church of Holy Sepulchre
Stations X to XIV are within the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, or the Church of the Resurrection, originally built by Emperor Constantine and his mother Helena in 335 CE.
The pillared Rotunda ; Golgotha; the Greek Choir and the underground Chapel of the Cross deserve special attention. Entering through the main door, you noticed a slab of polished red marble--the Stone of the Anointing. On the right are the steps up to the mound Golgotha, with the tenth, eleventh, twelfth and thirteenth Station of the Cross, said to mark the place Jesus was stripped of his garments, nailed to the cross, died, and was taken for burial.
Station XIV, the Tomb OF Jesus is enclosed within the pillared Rotunda, where a small anteroom [atrium], known as the Chapel of the Angels, opens into the sepulchre.
