TRAVELING TO CHRISTIAN’S SANCTUARIES IN MOUNT OF OLIVES JERUSALEM

The sanctuary is a Holy or Sacred place. The Sanctuary for Christian in Mount of Olives will be presented with comment, pictures and caption related to references available and the Bible.

1.Pater Noster Church or Lord’s Prayer Church: A Cavern where Jesus taught his disciples the Lord’s Prayer is now a chapel, and the Carmelite cloister here is lined with glazed tiles bearing the text of the prayer translated into 62 languages. [Matthew 6: 9-13; Luke 11: 2-4].

2. Dominus Flevit Chapel: Built to commemorate where Jesus is said to have wept as he foresaw the doom of Jerusalem--" And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it…As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that not be thrown down".

The beautiful view of the Old City through its distinct Chapel window.[Luke 19: 41 and 21: 5-6; Mat. 24: 1-2; Mark 13:1-2 ].

3. Church of All Nations, Basilica of the Agony: Close by are the ancient olives trees of the Garden of Gethsemane surrounding the Basilica of the Agony, its blue and gold mosaic pediment visible from afar. Also known as the Church of All Nations, for it was sponsored jointly by several countries. This site is believed that Jesus prayed to the Father hours before his crucifixion. Saying," Father, if thou be willing, remove the cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. [Luke 22: 41-42]."

4. Gethsemane Garden: Early Christian pilgrims located the Garden of Gethsemane at the bottom of the slope of the Mt. of Olives opposite the Temple Mount in the Old City. A joining is the Grotto of Gethsemane, a shallow cave where Israelite farmers prepared olive oil thousands of year ago—a cave in which Jesus and his companions often sheltered from winter rain and summer sunshine. An oil press is called in Hebrew “gat shemen”, and from this stemmed the word “Gethsemane.”

[John 12:3] "Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment".

And also Christ’s resurrection appears first to Mary Magdalene.[Mat 28: 1; Mark 16:1; Luke 24: 10; John 20: 1, 16].

"And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up in to heaven"

"So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.
